On September 28th, Alpha News agreed to host two Minnesota legislators, seeking to make public their failures on medical freedom legislation.

Representatives Eric Lucero and Glenn Gruenhagen appeared in a video on Alpha News’ Facebook Page. The video is aptly titled “Minnesota reps detail long history of fighting for health freedom”, because both legislators have been introducing legislation they claim protects vaccine choice since 2013.

That begs to question, why have they failed to pass vaccine choice legislation for 8 years?

These legislators explain that DFL Governors Mark Dayton and Tim Walz would never sign such legislation. Yet, far-left leaning governors across the country consistently sign legislation that they don’t like! Look at Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who begrudgingly agreed to sign a bill that bans mask mandates in schools.

Even in Minnesota, one of the more recent (small but welcome) protections for gun rights was signed into law by Governor Dayton. 

Sure, Lucero and Gruenhagen may have introduced these bills in the legislature, but how hard did they work to get them passed? Did they have a plan like Representative Erik Mortensen does?

Mortensen’s plan is simple, but effective. At the upcoming special legislative session, he will tack his “Stop Vaccine Mandates'' amendment to the $250 million frontline workers pay bill. If Republicans in the senate and the house agree to hold up passage of this legislation unless his amendment is attached, Walz will have no choice but to agree to sign it!

If you needed the reminder, here is what Mortensen’s amendment will do:

1. Restrict government, business, educational facilities and medical facilities from mandating vaccination as a requirement for work
2. Stop vaccine passports implementation in Minnesota to protect private health rights
3. Nullify any President Biden executive orders or laws by the U.S. Congress in the state of Minnesota; makes them unenforceable. 

This amendment is the real deal, and legislators should support it. Though there have been admirable efforts in the past to get medical freedom legislation across the governor’s desk, we cannot repeat the same tired old strategy from the past 8 years and expect different results.

Contact your State Senator and State Representative, and tell them to get on board with Mortensen’s “Stop Vaccine Mandates” amendment.

RINO Representative Marion O’Neill is bragging about her refusal to hold Governor Walz accountable. In an email to her constituents on September 28th, she told readers that she would NOT cosponsor Articles of Impeachment against Walz and that she continues to support bad legislation that would let Walz keep his ability to declare an emergency.

If O’Neill had her way, she wouldn’t address these issues at all! It is only after your countless phone calls, emails, and letters to your newspapers that she felt the need to defend herself. Check out her poor excuse for a response here.

O’Neill REFUSES To Support Impeachment

In her email, Representative O’Neill gives her convoluted reasoning for her opposition to Impeachment. She claims that it would never get past the DFL controlled House of Representatives, and that if impeached, radical-left winger Peggy Flanagan would be elevated to the governorship. Thirdly, she claims that impeaching Walz would cause Republicans to lose the senate majority (wrong again, but more on that in a minute).

Let’s start with her first point. She won’t cosponsor a resolution that would hold Walz accountable because she believes that it won’t pass. Even if that were true (it isn’t), she did not apply this same logic when she cosponsored HF 643, a bill to ban abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected. 

This is an excellent piece of legislation, probably the one good bill that O’Neill has cosponsored. However, she surely must know that it cannot pass the pro-abortion DFL house. Yet, she cosponsored it anyway! Clearly, she is alright with cosponsoring legislation that faces steep odds.

Even if the Impeachment Resolution faces steep odds, it does not mean it is impossible to pass. In fact, only 15 representatives need to say they want to hear the resolution for it to get a roll call vote. Once a vote is taken, legislators will be FORCED to take a position on impeaching Tyrant Tim Walz. Once legislators get a roll call vote – even if it fails – North Star Liberty Alliance will know for sure which legislators need to be targeted so that we can apply pressure and change their minds come the next vote. 

Secondly, O’Neill claims that radical-left winger Peggy Flanagan will become Governor if Walz is impeached. This is true, but if there are enough votes to impeach Tim Walz, there are enough votes to impeach Peggy Flanagan. Thanks to the Minnesota Constitution, the Republican senate president would be elevated to the lt governor position, and then the governor position once Flanagan is impeached.

Thirdly, the representative claims that because the Republican senate president will be moved to lt governor, the GOP will lose their narrow majority in the senate. This is blatantly false, and she knows it. 

When lt governor Tina Smith was appointed to the United States Senate in 2018, then-senate president Michelle Fischbach was promoted to lt governor. A few short months later, Fischbach was replaced in the state senate with a special election, where Jeff Howe took the seat with 57% of the vote.

The senate president is usually from a safe Republican district. Though it is not clear who the next senate president will be, there is no reason to believe that their elevation to lt governor will cause Republicans the Minnesota senate.

O’Neill Wants Walz To Keep Emergency Powers

As to expand upon the fact that she’s a conservative faker, Representative O’Neill continues her email by saying she supports one of the weakest pieces of legislation to reform Governor Walz’ ability to declare an executive emergency.

“I am a co-author on multiple bills aimed at reining in the Governor's emergency powers and addressing the restrictions he imposed throughout the course of his emergency powers declaration. One such bill is by Rep. Steve Green, HF101, which would allow a governor to declare a state of emergency for up to seven days.”

HF 101 is a bill that would propose a constitutional amendment that would put Walz’ ability to declare an executive emergency into the state constitution! There are two glaring issues with this proposal.

1. ANY governor having the ability to do what they want for 7 days is far too long. If the governor is to have any kind of special powers, it should be approved by the legislature first. The governor’s ability to declare an emergency for 7 days would be put into the constitution, which is virtually impossible to repeal. 
2. Minnesota voters must approve all amendments to the Minnesota constitution. That means the problem won’t have a chance of being addressed until November of 2022. Even then, Minnesotans could vote down the amendment and give politicians the excuse of saying “we tried, but the voters have spoken”.

She goes on to attack Representative Mortensen’s HF2204, AKA the “Never Again” bill. She again uses the excuse that it cannot pass the DFL house, even though curbing executive authority should not be a partisan issue! Surely DFLers will want to limit executive authority on the good chance that a Republican wins the governor’s race next year.

When passed, Representative Mortensen’s “Never Again” bill will ensure that:

• Governor Can’t Unilaterally Declare An Emergency: Any emergency declaration would require a 2/3rds vote in both the House and Senate -- as well as every extension.
• Governor’s Orders Will Not Be Treated As Law: Executive orders that the governor issues will not be used as legal dictates to Minnesotans. Only the legislature can pass laws.
• Governor Is Fined Or Imprisoned For Violating The Law: Instead of citizens being put in jail for violating the governor’s orders, the governor would be punished for abusing his or her powers.

This is the best legislation to restore a system of checks and balances in Minnesota. It has also proven to be very popular among grassroots activists. Unfortunately, Representative O’Neill has decided that she will not support it.

Did you see the news? Both President Biden and Governor Walz’ approval ratings have tanked in Minnesota. Since May of 2020, Walz’ approval rating has dropped a whopping 16 points. Then, Minnesotans seemed to trust Governor Walz’ handling of the pandemic. However, it’s clear that voters are just now learning of the atrocities that he has gotten away with over the past year.

Thanks to the efforts of groups like North Star Liberty Alliance, Minnesotans are finally starting to just how bad things got under Tyrant Tim Walz’ peacetime emergency. With his powers, he shut down businesses, churches, schools and more. He forced masks on our faces, and put covid-positive patients into long-term care facilities -- The same action that got disgraced New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in trouble. 

Over the past year, NSLA has been hounding Walz and his illegal and unethical executive orders that destroyed our state. We have sent mailers, made ads, made phone calls, and held NSLA Town Halls, all with the purpose of educating the people about the need to Impeach Governor Walz.

Facing re-election in 2022, a 49% approval rating should be cause for alarm in the Walz campaign.

Left-wing Governor Gretchen Whitmer has seen a similar drop in approval over in Michigan. As a result, she agreed to ban mask mandates and state-sponsored vaccine passports! This likely won’t be enough to get voters to forgive her tyrannical behavior, but it is a step in the right direction.

What will Governor Walz do to try and earn his way back into the good graces of voters? Whatever it is, North Star Liberty Alliance will be ready to confront his efforts, and demand justice for the countless business owners, students, churchgoers and families who were affected by his executive edicts last year.

I used to assume the best out of our politicians. When they don’t respond to a call or an email, or take a bad vote, I always assumed there were some circumstances that got in the way. Surely they wouldn’t flat out ignore us!

Unfortunately, politicians DO ignore us. Conservative Faker Representative Mary Franson admitted on twitter that she has been ignoring Representative Mortensen and her constituents in regards to the “Never Again Bill”.

Representative Mortensen’s Unilateral Emergency Powers Repeal Act, AKA The “Never Again Bill” is the best piece of legislation to date that would completely overhaul the governor’s ability to declare an executive emergency. 

This piece of legislation will ensure that:

This legislation has proved popular among grassroots activists. So popular that countless numbers of activists showed up at the Capitol in support of the bill earlier this summer. 

In a late-night tweet storm, Representative Franson unloaded on Mortensen for daring to criticize her record. She shared screenshots of conversations with Mortensen, including acknowledgment that she ignored his request to co-sponsor the Never Again Bill.

You see, Franson is upset that Mortensen has exposed her for the politician that she is. She lets personal grudges get in the way of good policy.

It ought to be principle over party, and solid legislation over hurt feelings. Clearly, Franson does not believe that to be the case.

Give Representative Franson a call and let her know how you feel about her refusal to even respond to Mortensen’s request to sign the “Never Again Bill”!

These NSLA members were so excited about the great news when Rep. Gruenhagen shook their hand saying he'd co-author the Impeachment, they sent us the video. Despite this video -- when we followed up on this -- he told a member of my team he would NOT co-sponsor the current Articles of Impeachment, because the resolution was introduced by Representative Erik Mortensen.

I don't know about you, but when you shake on something and give your word, you follow through with it! But Rep. Gruenhagen choose to instead lie to people. You see, politicians like Rep. Gruenhagen care more about their personal beefs than doing the right thing. He must commit to holding Walz accountable and fighting for what his constituents want done.

So what does he do instead of fighting for the people of his district? Double down on his swampy behavior.

Gruenhagen LIED about co-authoring the Impeachment Resolution. He and all of his swampy friends are the only thing standing in the way of Impeaching Walz!

On early Sunday morning, GOP gubernatorial candidate Scott Jensen sent out an email to his supporters, claiming that he has the solution to President Biden’s medical tyranny. Upon further inspection of the bill, however, you’ll realize that claim couldn’t be further from the truth.

Jensen tells his supporters that “Our state must assert itself as a Health Freedom Sanctuary State, where people take responsibility for their own health and are not forced to make medical decisions by the government.”

That all sounds great! However, just like Scott Jensen's campaign pledges over the years, this too is a lie. More on that in a minute. 

The bill will be carried by Republicans that try to hold them out as staunch conservatives. Signers include: Representative Mary Franson, Representative Eric Lucero, Representative John Poston, Representative Glenn Gruenhagen, Representative Donald Raleigh, Senator Roger Chamberlain, Senator Jim Abeler and Senator Mark Koran.

Now that Biden's illegal and unconstitutional edicts have animated freedom lovers across Minnesota, these legislators had to put out SOMETHING in response.

Nobody would be complaining if this establishment legislation actually does what they claim it does. Unfortunately, it is not the great piece of legislation that Scott Jensen claims it is. 

Jensen is a Career Politician who has been in and out of elective office for decades, now running for governor. He has made a big effort to distance himself from the establishment throughout his campaign, so aligning himself with several career politicians now comes across as odd. It seems his natural reflexes are taking over things.

Why would Scott Jensen have his swampy friends in the Minnesota House introduce this legislation when Representative Erik Mortensen (Mort) has already laid out a plan to Stop Vaccine Mandates?

Mort has publicized his solution to Vaccine Mandates for weeks now. He has prepared an amendment to be heard at the upcoming special session which would:

1. Restrict government, business, educational facilities and medical facilities from mandating vaccination as a requirement for work
2. Stop vaccine passports implementation in Minnesota to protect private health rights
3. Nullify any President Biden executive orders or laws by the U.S. Congress in the state of Minnesota; makes them unenforceable. 

Meanwhile, this cover bill pushed by Jensen and company isn't even centered around this upcoming Special Session. People are losing their jobs daily and they say NOTHING about having this as a part of the Special Session. Jensen's bill would not be heard until at least 2022!

And then there is the bill language itself.

Nowhere in Jensen’s proposal does he nullify President Biden’s executive Vaccine Mandate! This cover bill would stop Governor Walz from implementing Vaccine Mandates, but does nothing to stop the CURRENT mandate coming from the White House!

Mortensen pointed out the cover-bill’s shortcomings in a Facebook video this weekend (Take a watch, it's a must see). He points out the key differences between his 'Stop Vaccine Mandates'  amendment, and Jensen’s NON-sanctuary cover bill. 

For those that are unfamiliar with a "cover bill", Rep. Mortensen lays it out in this video.

Clearly, Scott Jensen and his politician buddies introduced this legislation as political cover for legislators who were getting an earful from their constituents. These politicians did not want to support Mortensen's amendment because he doesn't sit at the cool kids table. So instead, they stole his homework and failed in properly copying it.

If they copied Mort's homework correctly, it would not be such a big deal! However, because this bill does not deal with President Biden's mandates AND won't be dealt with until next year, it receives a failing grade from conservative activists. 

Call your legislators, and tell them to support Mortensen's Stop Vaccine Mandates amendment!

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) announced their new “Docket app” on Wednesday as a way of keeping track of their immunization records. This app is being launched in anticipation of several venues across the state mandating proof of vaccination for service.

The creation of this app allows businesses an easy excuse to implement proof of vaccination status at the door. Even if it means turning away individuals for vital services. 

North Star Liberty Alliance has been on the front lines against moves like this for some time now. Though the liberty-grassroots activists in Minnesota are motivated to fight back against attacks on medical freedom, lazy legislators in St. Paul have little to offer. 

It appears that both Governor Walz and supposed “conservatives” in the legislature are content with the idea that families may soon be denied access to food at their local grocery store, because they fail to provide their “license to live”. 

This is unacceptable. Legislators who talk the talk on protecting medical freedom must now walk the walk.

Representative Erik Mortensen is leading the charge against vaccine mandates in Minnesota by preparing a “stop vaccine mandates” amendment for the upcoming special legislative session.

If passed, this amendment would stop employers, businesses, bars and restaurants from requiring proof of vaccination in order to utilize their services. This amendment would even prevent President Biden’s vaccine mandate from being enforced!

The Minnesota State Fair has been an annual tradition since 1859. Known as “The Great Minnesota Get-Together”, it is a celebration of good food, fun rides, and interesting attractions that draws people from all across the state.

Thanks to covid-hysteria, the fair was canceled in 2020 for the first time in 74 years. This led to a huge loss in revenue for both the fair and food vendors. Luckily, the fair commenced from August 25th to September 5th of this year as usual. No masks or vaccine passports required!

Of course, the left-wing media is looking to condemn Minnesotans for daring to have fun with their friends and family at the fair by painting it as a “superspreader” event.

Out of the 1.3 million people who attended the fair, there have been 69 confirmed cases of covid-19. For the media, this is reason for alarm. For the average Minnesotan, this kind of reaction comes across as fear mongering. 

The media thrives on fear. When people are afraid, people tune into the news!

Unfortunately, this kind of fear mongering only encourages power-hungry politicians like Governor Tim Walz. Activist groups have been encouraging Walz to declare a new peacetime emergency in order to mandate masks, and potentially vaccines. 

Tyrant Tim Walz looks to be considering new mandates on the people of Minnesota. He has already thanked President Biden for his executive overreach regarding vaccine mandates for nearly 80 million Americans. At this point, who is stopping Walz from mandating vaccines for all Minnesotans? 

He is already bribing children with $100 visa gift cards (paid for by taxpayers) to get the covid-19 vaccine. Walz will not rest until every Minnesotan has been inoculated, even if they have already chosen not to. 

Legislators must take immediate action to Impeach Governor Walz, before he has time to enact a new peacetime emergency. Have you signed the Official Impeachment Petition?

When legislators hear you demanding Governor Walz be Impeached, they will have no choice but to cosponsor the resolution authored by Rep Mortensen. 

Impeachment is not an easy task, but it is a necessary one. Governor Walz has already proven that he is willing to trample on the rights of Minnesotans. He will not hesitate to do it again. 

It is now becoming clear that the political powers that be are trying to forcefully divide the American people. On Thursday, President Biden announced that he will be forcing private businesses that employ more than 100 people to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine as a condition of employment. 

Business owners who seek to protect the medical freedoms of their employees could be fined $14,000 per violation. 

This infringement of bodily autonomy did not come to fruition by an act of congress, but rather an executive order. Having experience with ruling by executive edict, Governor Tim Walz quickly came out and endorsed this tyranny via twitter.

Based on these actions, it is clear that both Biden and Walz value forced inoculation over the jobs of hardworking Minnesotans. They have declared war on the livelihoods of everyday people. Fortunately, it is not too late to stop them.

Governor Walz is likely to declare a special session in the coming weeks to allocate $250 million tax dollars for frontline workers. Representative Erik Mortensen has prepared an amendment that he plans to introduce which would nullify ANY vaccine mandate, including President Biden’s.

The Minnesota Senate Republican Caucus may one day be the conservative stalwarts that they pretend to be on the campaign trail. However, that day is unlikely to come any time soon.

Senate Republicans announced late Wednesday night that Senator Jeremy Miller had been elected to be their majority leader. Miller is currently serving his fourth term in Senate, and has served as Senate president since 2019.

This shakeup in leadership comes as then-majority leader Paul Gazelka stepped down from his leadership position to mount his campaign for governor. Many rejoiced at the prospect of a true fiscal conservative leading the Senate Republicans, but were then disappointed to hear that Miller would take Gazelka’s place.

Senator Miller has made it clear that his priority for the next session is accumulating debt for the state. In his press release, he states that he is ready to “invest in the top priorities for the state…”. What might those top priorities be?

If his track record has anything to say about it, these “priorities” likely include budget busting bills chock full of spending increases for non-functioning executive agencies in Governor Walz’ administration. Under Gazelka’s leadership, Radical-Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office saw a bump in spending, even after he threatened to jail business owners last year. Now-senate majority leader Miller voted for and supported this increase.

Worse yet, Senator Miller and his phony-conservative friends voted for insurance company bailouts using taxpayer dollars in 2017 (SF1). It is clear that Senator Miller’s interests are not with the people of Minnesota, and certainly NOT with the hardworking liberty-activists of the state.

Jeremy Miller is Paul Gazelka 2.0, and he must be treated as such. If he is going to change his ways, he needs to hear from you! Give his office a call and tell him that he cannot kowtow to the radical-left like his predecessor did.
