Politicians Feeling Pressure On Impeachment Effort

Left: Activists learning about the impeachment effort.
Right: Representative Josh Heintzeman

For the past several months, one of North Star Liberty Alliance’s primary goals has been to impeach Governor Tim Walz for his misconduct in office. The announcement of this effort received an overwhelmingly positive response from patriots across the state of Minnesota.

Representative Erik Mortensen proudly introduced HR2 -- Articles of Impeachment against Tim Walz -- back in February. He quickly received two co-sponsors on his resolution.

After tens of thousands of petition signatures received, hard-hitting ad blitzes, phone calls and mailers, it has become clear that politicians who refuse to support Impeachment are feeling the pressure. These politicians are getting so antsy, that they have begun commenting on NSLA posts in an effort to dissuade activists from getting involved.

Representative Josh Heintzeman from House District 10A is clearly upset about getting calls and emails from activists like you. Instead of rationally discussing the impeachment and vaccine passport issues, he turns to blatantly false claims about North Star Liberty Alliance and our thousands of activist members.

He would rather insult patriots like you than actually stand up and be the conservative that he claims to be. Unfortunately, Heintzeman is not the only RINO in St. Paul… Did you see that the Republican Party of Minnesota is trying to purge conservative activists from its ranks?

The establishment is beginning to panic… and it is no wonder! Have you seen the ads targeting lazy legislators for their refusal to sign on to impeachment?

Not only is North Star Liberty Alliance making ads, calls, mailers and emails... we're also gathering patriots for Impeachment Town Halls across the state! Check out a few pictures from our first event:

You see, NSLA is taking action to make impeachment happen. We are mobilizing and educating activists that are excited to protect liberty in the State of Minnesota. Our efforts to hold Walz accountable are only possible because of patriots like you. Will you help defend North Star Liberty Alliance against attacks from the political establishment?

Start by calling Representative Heintzeman. Tell him that conservative patriots like you are not going anywhere.

Then, consider a donation to North Star Liberty Alliance. Now that we have seen these politicians are feeling the political pressure, we have no choice but to double down. Help us show lazy legislators what happens when they refuse to hold Governor Walz accountable.

RINO Senator Pratt Joins With Democrats Celebrating Budget Hikes

Senator Eric Pratt poses with then-DFL State Representative, Tim Mahoney

For those who fight for individual rights, fiscal responsibility, and accountability for state government, this past legislative session was a complete and utter failure. This year, Republican Senators had a real chance to implement programs like school choice as a part of the budget negotiations.

“Conservative” Senators gave up on real school choice for Minnesotan students. Worse yet, they actually agreed to increase funding for failing public schools by 3% -- a slap in the face for school choice advocates!

Republican Senator Eric Pratt (R - Prior Lake) is joining Lt Governor Peggy Flanagan, Congresswoman Angie Craig, and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey in celebrating this drastic increase in funding for failing public schools in Minnesota. They will be touring the state in an effort to prop up Governor Walz’ budget “achievements” before he runs for re-election.

This increase in public school funds over the next two years is being implemented despite declining public school enrollment. After a year of cancelled school sports, zoom classes, and mandatory masking, parents are looking for real alternatives to government run schools! School vouchers are needed more now than ever, and Senate Republicans failed to deliver for those parents.

At first, these conservative phonies came out swinging with their school choice proposal. Senator Roger Chamberlain, who is chair of the Senate E-12 Education Committee, quickly dropped this issue altogether and instead pushed for a 3% funding increase in public education. School choice activists across the state were let down by Chamberlain and all Senate Republicans. Now, Senator Pratt is looking to rub it in.

Why is Senator Pratt celebrating this budget increase with radical left-wing politicians? The members of his conservative senate district surely must feel betrayed. Give Eric Pratt a call and ask him why he is betraying his principles on this statewide failure tour.

Rep. Cal Bahr Votes For Omnibus Bill After Calling Them ‘Unconstitutional’

For years, State Representative Cal Bahr (R - East Bethel) has directed his anger towards omnibus bills in the state legislature. Omnibus bills are usually the thousands of pages of unrelated spending projects jam-packed into a handful of bills that legislators barely get to read.

Bahr argued that these budget-busting bills violated the single subject clause in the state constitution. He held press conferences, cut videos, and fought these bills every step of the way since he’s been elected. That all changed during the 2021 special legislative session.

On June 30th, Cal Bahr voted in support of passing the Omnibus Tax Bill, which is nearly 97 pages long. Because it was the last of the special session, this bill was packed with tacked-on projects and laws that absolutely violated the single subject clause. Bahr’s colleague, Representative Jeremy Munson explains that the tax bill:

“... ends up being this miscellaneous bucket [that] a lot of the end of session compromise language gets attached to. So rarely anything attached to the tax bill is germaine.”

Worse yet, Bahr could have killed the bill with a “no” vote. Even though Republicans are in the minority, they still need at least 68 votes (a 2/3rds majority) in order to pass the thing. The bill passed on a vote of 69-55. If Bahr and his fellow caucus member, Representative Miller, voted against this thing it would have failed.

As recent as May 19th, Representative Bahr lamented the practice of forming gigantic omnibus bills. In a legislative update from the New House Republican Caucus Youtube Channel, Bahr noted that legislative sessions of yesterday passed far smaller and numerous pieces of legislation.

“Last biennium… 150 bills were signed into law by the governor, and yet in the 70s, 1366 [bills were passed]. Are we that inefficient? No, it’s a consolidation of power.”

“We need to start breaking these pieces up and we need to start sending individual pieces so you the voter can hold us responsible”.

Representative Bahr clearly realizes that these omnibus bills are an issue. Why did he forfeit his principles on the last day of session with one of the most egregiously big omnibus bills of this session? Ask him! Give him a call and send him an email to let him know that without him and Representative Miller, this tax bill would have failed.

What Walz’ New PAC Fails To Mention

The 2022 gubernatorial election in Minnesota is beginning to heat up. A new PAC called Leadership Matters MN has begun taking out ads in support of Governor Walz. When you go to their website, you’ll mostly see a collection of videos that talk about the “hard decisions” and “investments” Walz has made.

Conveniently, this PAC fails to mention all of Walz’ blatant missteps and outright tyrannical edicts. Some of these decisions include:

  • Suspending “nonessential” business operations via executive order
  • Suspending “elective” surgeries via executive order
  • Closing houses of worship (later ruled unconstitutional)
  • Forcing COVID-19 patients into long-term care facilities
  • Buying a $7 million COVID-19 morgue which has yet to be used
  • Enforcing a statewide mask mandate
  • Clinging on to his ability to write “law” for over a year
  • Bribing Minnesotans to get the COVID-19 vaccine with their own tax dollars

All of these things and more have created a vastly different Minnesota, and not for the better. Thanks to Walz, many of our community businesses, churches, friends and family are gone for good. It’s no wonder this PAC is putting out ads for Tyrant Tim, he’s going to need all the help he can get come next year!

Rep Munson Explains Why His “End Powers” Proposal Doesn’t Work

Left: State Representative Jeremy Munson
Right: MN Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm

For months, State Representative Jeremy Munson has argued that by moving all executive responses to COVID-19 from Chapter 12 of the state statutes to Chapter 144, Minnesotans would be free of tyrannical edicts from the executive branch. Because this aspect of his proposal is now law, the Minnesota Health Commissioner and the liberal courts are solely responsible for managing COVID-19 responses.

Munson argued that as long as the Minnesota Senate remained in session, they could fire Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm if she overstepped her bounds. To little surprise, the Minnesota Senate voted to adjourn on Tuesday -- Officially forfeiting their ability to fire Jan Malcolm if she abuses her power until the next special session is called in September.

Munson expressed his displeasure with their vote to adjourn, and even goes on to explain why holding the executive branch accountable under Chapter 144 is not feasible unless the Senate remains in session:

Below is the vote on the motion to adjourn

Munson is correct here, but he should not be surprised. Many of these squishy Republicans in the State Senate don’t really care about holding Walz accountable. They just want to collect their paycheck and get out on the campaign trail.

This is exactly why moving COVID-19 responses from Chapter 12 to Chapter 144 is not a solution to executive overreach. Because Minnesota has a part-time legislature, they won't always be in session and cannot gavel-in unless the governor calls for a new special session.

Shifting executive powers is part of Representative Cal Bahr’s HF28, which is a watered-down version of Representative Erik Mortensen’s HF2204. Mortensen’s bill is far better than Bahr’s bill in that Mort’s HF2204 completely eliminates Walz’ ability to declare an emergency (the only bill in the legislature to do so!).

If Mortensen's bill were to become law, the governor would be incentivized to call the legislature back into session to approve a state of emergency. Under Bahr's proposal, the governor OR the health commissioner could declare a temporary emergency without legislative approval. THEN, liberal Ramsey County Judges can create a 30 day health emergency which can be renewed indefinitely.

If Munson and his friends in the New House Republican Caucus are coming to realize that giving Commissioner Malcolm is not a good long-term solution to ending Minnesota’s Constitutional Crisis, then they must do what they can to support Mortensen’s bill and pass it into law next session.

Walz Commissioner Resigns Before Confirmation Vote

Left: Pollution Control Commissioner Laura Bishop
Right: Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka

Though the state budget has been finished and signed into law, the Minnesota Senate has remained in session to take confirmation votes on members of Governor Walz’ cabinet.

Fearing rejection from the Republican Senate Majority, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Director Laura Bishop resigned on Tuesday.

Bishop had been a target for the Republican Senate, who were looking to cast blame for Governor Walz’ “California car mandates” that were overseen by Commissioner Bishop. When implemented, these mandates will increase the consumer cost for purchasing a new vehicle, while regulating which vehicles can be sold in the first place!

The Senate made an attempt to postpone these mandates in early budget negotiations, but then gave up when they received pushback from the left.

After failing to stop these California car mandates, Republican Senators quickly realized their mistake after receiving pushback from activists. That is precisely why they sought to fire Laura Bishop.

Because the Senate will continue to meet through Wednesday, they have the capacity to cause political pain for Governor Walz. They can make Walz pay for his crimes over the past year by removing every single one of his commissioners. Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm should be at the top of their list

Call your State Senator NOW and tell them to fire Walz’ commissioners!

Minnesota Republicans Fail To Deliver For Conservatives At Capitol

Back in January, Republicans began the legislative session with a lot of promises for their conservative constituents. Among their priorities were ending Walz’ emergency powers, stopping tax increases, and putting the state back on a path of economic recovery. There were efforts made to accomplish these things, but Senate Republicans ultimately fell flat on some of their core issues. Issues like:

Ending Walz’ Emergency Powers:

Thanks to the consistent phone calls and emails from liberty activists across the state, legislators finally voted to end Governor Walz’ executive emergency. This comes after more than a year of failing to do so. Just because his emergency is over, however, does not mean he cannot declare another one.

Senate Republicans failed to force the issue of restructuring Chapter 12 of the Minnesota State Statutes, which gives the governor the ability to declare sweeping executive emergencies. When Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka had the opportunity to force Walz to sign Representative Mortensen’s Never Again bill, he made no effort to do so

Accountability For Keith Ellison:

Governor Walz and Attorney General Ellison are just now coming off of a year-long powertrip. In this past year, they have hunted down and arrested hard working business owners for daring to open their businesses to the public. In December of 2020, Senator Gazelka threatened to cut funding towards the Attorney General’s office if this kind of behavior continued. Instead, Gazelka voted to increase the AG budget.

School Choice Vouchers:

This is an issue that Senate Republicans came out of the gate swinging on. School choice advocates were excited about the prospect of a voucher system in which parents could put their tax dollars towards paying for the tuition at a private or charter school. After talking a big game on this issue, Senate Republicans dropped the proposal outright, and instead increased public school funding.

California Car Mandates:

Governor Walz’ administration has been toying with radical market intervention for a long time now. Republicans hoped to delay his “California Car Mandates” this session, which will increase consumer prices on new vehicles, and regulate which kinds of cars are sold in Minnesota. Instead of stopping this thing dead in its tracks, they decided they can make it an election issue for 2022

By ceding ground to the radical left, supposed “conservatives” haven’t conserved anything! This $52 billion budget bill is an extraordinary increase in spending that lets Governor Walz and his pals get away with their atrocities over the past year. Worse yet, establishment figures like Paul Gazelka and Kurt Daudt fought efforts to Impeach Governor Walz!

Though session may be over, you can be sure that Articles of Impeachment will be in place for the 2022 legislative session. Sign the Official Impeachment Petition NOW to show your legislators how important it is to you!

Minnesota Senate Must Fire Walz Commissioners

Though the 2021 special legislative session is over, the Minnesota Senate has not yet adjourned. They will be reconvening on Tuesday, the 6th. This is after the Republican Senate Majority compromised their principles and passed sweeping omnibus bills that increased the Attorney General’s budget, kept Walz’ burdensome mandates on new cars, and seemingly omitted any kind of school choice proposal.

Most notably, it appears that Republican Legislators have failed to pass Representative Mortensen’s Never Again bill, which would strip Governor Walz of his ability to unilaterally declare an executive emergency. As of writing, Walz could easily institute another peacetime “emergency” whenever he pleases.

Though Republican Senators have squandered many opportunities to hold Walz accountable, they may have one last chance. On Tuesday, The Senate will hold confirmation hearings on one or possibly more of Walz’ cabinet members. If the Senate votes against the confirmation of his commissioners, they are immediately ousted from their position in Walz’ administration.

Their prime target appears to be MN Pollution Control Agency Commissioner Laura Bishop. This is likely a move in retaliation for implementing mandates and fees on new vehicles. This is despite the fact that Republicans had the opportunity to stop these mandates as part of budget negotiations.

As long as Republicans are firing Walz commissioners, they must clean house. After they fire Laura Bishop, they must take aim against MN Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm. Malcolm is one of the key figures in Walz’ cabinet that fed Minnesotans bad guidance and pushed for fines and jail time for business owners who defied Walz last year.

Senators have disappointed their constituents enough, they need to AT LEAST get this right. Before they meet on Tuesday, tell your Senator to fire Walz’ commissioners!

Emergency Over... But Walz Keeps Powers!!!

Join our Email List to get urgent updates as soon as they come out.

Friend,

Tyrant Tim Walz’ “emergency” is over.

Late on Tuesday night, both the House and the Senate voted to repeal his emergency. It’s all thanks to your calls and emails to legislators in St. Paul.

Thank you for your activism. YOU made the difference.

But there's just one problem...A BIG PROBLEM!

Tyrant Tim needs to be held accountable for his illegal and unconstitutional actions.

Additionally, there is nothing stopping Walz from going down this warpath against out liberties again.

Talks of this new COVID-19 variant could scare Walz enough to lockdown our state again come this fall.

You and I CANNOT let that happen. My team is working day and night to Impeach Tyrant Tim Walz before he begins his next power trip.

Will you pitch in to the effort to hold Walz accountable? Give $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can put towards the Impeachment Battle.

Your donations are always put to good use. This summer, my team is traveling across the state to engage and unite liberty lovers around the cause of Impeachment to hold Walz accountable.

Did you see and read about our first Impeachment Town Hall?

In July, NSLA will be hosting two more Impeachment Town Halls! Stay tuned for more details and locations.

I can tell you that our first Town Hall educated and mobilized activists on the reasons for Impeachment, what we have done so far, and what we as the grassroots can do about it.

Now, many of these good folks have turned into liberty warriors and volunteers for the effort to Impeach and to EXPOSE THESE RINOs!

Not only that, but they are writing letters to the editors to papers all over Minnesota calling out these politicians for not representing them!

We need them and WE NEED YOU!

So please, continue to support our efforts to spread this issue across the state by giving $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can put towards the Impeachment Battle.

And if you remember, after liberty lovers all over Minnesota were educated and mobilized in districts all over Minnesota, VOTERS decided to give 5 tax-raising, rights-trampling, liberty-hating politicians to the curb.

Did you read about these politicians losing their seats?

Even though this Impeachment effort is strong, there is much more to do when it comes to protecting our liberties. What happens when the next power-hungry governor comes along?

Though the legislature ended Walz’ current emergency, he still has the power to declare another one whenever he wants!

The legislature MUST take action to repeal the governor’s unilateral ability to write new laws and enforcements.

And because he wrote his own laws, that's exactly why he needs to be Impeached for these unconstitutional actions.

In fact, it's Article ll of the Articles of Impeachment:

  1. Failing to respect the separation of powers
  2. Inventing new penalties for violation of his executive orders without legislative sanction
  3. Banned the free exercise of religion - violation of the First Amendment of the U.S. constitution & Minnesota’s constitution Article 1, Section 16
  4. Taken private property in violation of the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. constitution
  5. Banning nearly all non-emergency medicine

This is precisely why Representative Erik Mortensen introduced HF2204, the Never Again bill.

Don’t be fooled by other bills! Mortensen’s is the only one to fully repeal the governor’s ability to declare an emergency NEVER AGAIN.

Never Again will we put up with lockdowns. Never Again will we allow our businesses to be shut down. Never Again will we allow our rights to be stomped on!

Unfortunately, weak Republicans like Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka does not share our same vision - for now.

With YOUR help, we will expose these politicians for their bad deeds like we did in Liberty Champion's district, Rep. Erik Mortensen!

Where voters decided to in favor of Mortensen over his RINO opponent and then choose Mort over tax-raising, career politician, Democrat Brad Tabke, to represent them.

And he has delivered and led the charge to Impeach Walz.

Will you contribute now, and help North Star Liberty Alliance amplify our message to the people who need to hear it most? Give $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford to help out!

THOUSANDS of awesome supporters like you have shown that they want to save our state from tyrants like Tim Walz.

And the plan is working.

When you join in on the effort, you are in good company.

Gazelka Increases AG Budget After Threatening Cuts Last Year

The Minnesota House of Representatives adjourned sine die on Thursday morning, officially ending the first special session of 2021. This was a rough year for liberty lovers, not just because of the lockdowns and infringements on liberties, but because phony conservatives in the legislature compromised their principles.

After talking a big game on holding Attorney General Keith Ellison accountable last year, Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka agreed to a 17% increase in his budget!

Check out these numbers. The Republican Senate agreed to allocate $52,116,000 for the Attorney General’s Office in 2019. This year, Gazelka just endorsed a bill that gives the AG $60,718,000. Ellison now has all the funds he needs to continue to crack down on business owners trying to make a living.

AG Ellison was responsible for cracking down on small business owners who dared defy the governor’s shut down orders last year. After he began fining and putting business owners in Jail, Paul Gazelka took to the internet to express his outrage.

In a video posted to the MN Senate Republican Facebook and Twitter accounts on December 17th, 2020, Senator Gazelka stated that:

"if you start fining these people $10,000 a piece, you can expect that money to come out of your budget"

Like most politicians, Gazelka is all talk and no action! After Ellison continued to crack down on these small businesses, Gazelka voted for an increase in his operating budget!

Senator Gazelka has bigger aspirations than being Senate Majority Leader. It’s becoming more and more likely that he will be running for governor against Tim Walz next year. If he is looking to represent the people of Minnesota, he needs to stay true to his word.

Call Senator Gazelka now, and let him know how you feel about his lies.
