Legislature To Fund Vaccine Passports?

When the regular legislative session ended on May 17th, political leaders created more questions than answers. Despite announcing a budget deal, the budget bills themselves have yet to be finalized. This all will be done at a special session Governor Walz will call in June.

This means that there are still plenty of opportunities for big government shills to sneak in their pet projects. Proposals like mandatory vaccines can still get snuck in just hours before the legislature is set to vote. When small proposals are snuck into huge spending bills, they often pass with flying colors.

Though Senate Republicans put on a good show against mandatory vaccines on the last day of session, that doesn’t mean they won’t let other problematic proposals go through. With this budget deal being announced, Gazelka has already agreed to fully fund state agencies that do not have your best intentions in mind.

If passed, Paul Gazelka would be throwing his weight behind full funding for the Minnesota Department of Health, which has teased their support for vaccine passports in the past. It appears that Governor Walz will try bribing Minnesotans to get the vaccine before he mandates it.

However, it's not too late to hold your legislative leaders accountable and stop this bad deal. Reach out to your State Senator and State Representative and tell them that this bad budget deal cannot stand.

Public Schools Rush To Waste Federal Money

Governor Walz speaking to elementary school students in Moorhead, MN.

Upon announcement of a budget deal that jacks up spending last week, school districts began to scramble. Part of this deal between Governor Walz, Speaker Hortman, and Leader Gazelka allocates $75 million to public schools for summer programs.

The StarTribune reports that, with summer programs beginning in three weeks, school leaders are rushing to find the best way to waste it. You see, most school districts had already had their plans set for the summer before legislators decided to dump millions in tax dollars into their laps.

A community education and engagement director from Hopkins Public Schools said that it may be difficult to even find teachers who are ready to staff these summer programs on such short notice. Many districts are likely to stash this money away for summer 2022 -- after which the funds will no longer be available.

As always, government on the state and federal levels found a way to waste tax dollars on programs that don’t really need it. Though these school districts will hopefully put it to good use, there is always the possibility these funds will be wasted.

Poor money management is likely one among a plethora of reasons that parents are beginning to pull their children out of public schools and enrolling them in private schools. The most apparent reason for the drastic decline in public school enrollment is due to pandemic guidelines pushed by Governor Walz and his friends in the legislature.

Not only did Governor Walz create the problem of public school disenrollment by mandating masks and encouraging distance learning, but now he is showering those same public schools with tax dollars that they don’t need right now. For a former high school teacher, Walz sure seems to be bad at properly supporting public schools.

If you believe that Walz has got to go, then sign the NSLA petition to impeach him and remove him from office.

Minnesotans Reject Tax Hikes Overwhelmingly

Minnesota has long been dubbed a “blue state”, and we have the taxes to prove it. Taxes in Minnesota are so bad, that WalletHub puts Minnesota as having the 6th highest tax burden in the nation. Naturally, the people of Minnesota have become tired of forking over their hard earned income to the government.

Minnesotans have begun to voice their displeasure with the tax and spend status quo in Minnesota, especially on the local level. When given the opportunity to increase the levy for their local schools on May 11th of this year, Byron voters narrowly voted no. This is just one of nine proposals that Minnesota voters rejected this month.

These failed tax increase attempts should come as no surprise to anyone. In 2019, the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce reported that 60% of Minnesotans stood against Governor Walz’ radical gas tax increase proposal. That year, the North Star Liberty Alliance successfully waged a campaign against the gas tax increase, but that doesn’t mean that Walz won’t try again.

We’ve seen these kinds of tactics before. States like California and New York will try to tax their citizens into prosperity, all the while losing those same citizens to low-tax states like Texas and Florida. Governor Walz and his friends don’t care about losing residents, though. They only care about getting their pet projects like mass government surveillance

Don’t let the radical politicians drive you out of the state. Stay and fight for what is yours. The North Star Liberty Alliance will continue to stand against radical tax and spending proposals in Minnesota. Can our team count on you to put pressure on the tax and spend politicians in St. Paul?

Pennsylvanians Stopped Their Governor; Why Can't Minnesota?

Left: PA Governor Tom Wolf. Right: MN Governor Tim Walz

The American people are sick and tired of lockdowns and masks. While many states have begun to reopen and rescind their mask mandates, some Governors are clinging on to their sweeping executive powers. Last week, Pennsylvanians said enough is enough.

Last Tuesday, PA voters rejected Governor Tom Wolf’s failed COVID-19 response by passing an amendment to their State Constitution. Tyrant Tim Walz should take notice.

Despite lifting (most) of his restrictions on the state, Governor Walz has clung on to his emergency powers and indicated that he will extend them again in June. Him lifting some of his tyrannical restrictions means nothing as long as he maintains the ability to do it all again with the stroke of a pen.

If Minnesotans are to follow the path of Pennsylvania, passing a Constitutional amendment is not the way to go.

Constitutional amendment initiatives take pressure off of the politicians and shift it to the voters. If voters reject the initiative, your legislators see the issue as “spoken for”. They don’t understand that your rights should not be threatened by a majority who show up on election day.

The best way to be rid of and done with Governor Walz’ emergency powers is for the legislature to pass Representative Erik Mortensen’s “Never Again” bill. This legislation would require a two-thirds majority vote in both the State House and the State Senate for the governor to receive emergency powers. If the governor were to violate this provision, they could be imprisoned or fined.

Though the regular legislative session has ended, there is still time to pass the Never Again bill! Governor Walz will call the legislature for a special session in June to finish up the budget. Tell your local legislators to pass the Never Again bill before anything else!

Walz Looking To Bribe Minnesotans Into Getting Vaccine

Governor Walz at the Mall of America on Wednesday. Image obtained from Kare 11.

As of writing, 62.4 percent of Minnesotans 16 and older have at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This is good news for those who wish to get the vaccine, as it is their right to do so. However, it appears that these numbers are not good enough for Governor Walz. He won’t rest until everyone in Minnesota gets the vaccine -- even if they don’t want to.

Before he considers implementing vaccine passports, Walz is looking to bribe Minnesotans with their own tax dollars. According to Kare 11, Walz is considering giving away free fishing licenses or gift cards to Minnesotans who decide to get the COVID-19 vaccine. It appears that Walz has been inspired by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, who initiated a $1 million lottery for those who get the vaccine.

Not only would this be a poor use of tax dollars, but it would also serve as a punishment for those who choose not to get the COVID-19 vaccine. By redistributing tax dollars towards citizens who make the decision to get vaccinated, citizens who don’t get vaccinated are singled out for a decision that should be a private choice. Once again, the government is seeking to pick winners and losers.

Governor Walz should take a break from hogging the spotlight and let people live their lives. By clinging to his emergency powers like a toddler, Walz could write up an executive order implementing vaccine punishments as soon as tomorrow. Worse yet, it appears that making the vaccines mandatory is still on the table.

Walz’ executive edicts over the past 400 days have caused serious long term harm to the people of Minnesota, and his willingness to hold on to that power means there is more to come. With the legislature convening again in the coming weeks, there is still time to hold Walz accountable.

Even Lobbyists Call Legislative Process ‘Ridiculous'

Every day it becomes more clear that the legislative proceedings in Minnesota are a sham. With the regular legislative session wrapping up on Monday, the public is left wondering how their elected leaders defended their best interests. Many Capitol insiders would argue that your politicians are not looking out for you at all...

The Minnesota Reformer reported that a lobbyist (who remains nameless) believes that the public should view the end of the legislative session as “ridiculous”. You see, politicians -- especially on the right --  have a tendency to promise a lot on the campaign trail, then offer up fake efforts to achieve their campaign promises.

Representative Erik Mortensen, who was just booted from his caucus, notes that all legislative proceedings are political theater. All motions and discussions are carefully scripted by the majority party thanks to the “24 hour rule”. This rule requires bills and resolutions to be submitted at least one day in advance so that Speaker Hortman and Majority Leader Winkler can script out the session.

Mortensen goes on to say that outcomes in the state house are “predetermined”. Legislative proceedings being held over Zoom instead of at the Capitol only makes it easier to avoid true debate on legislation. Thanks to the fence surrounding the State Capitol, voters cannot even interact with your legislators anymore. Even if you could get inside the Capitol and State Office Buildings, legislators aren’t there. Most of them are working from home.

Check Out Mort’s Full Interview With Alpha News

For those who still believe in their government, this will all come as a big disappointment. Unfortunately, because Mortensen has called out these shenanigans, he has been kicked out of the New House Republican Caucus. Even the self-proclaimed “conservatives” in St. Paul have succumbed to the swampy establishment demands.

What has the establishment produced in terms of legislation? Nothing good. In fact, Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka just agreed to increase spending over the next two years. That’s right, Senate Republicans just agreed to INCREASE spending, despite describing themselves as “fiscally conservative”.

Last biennium’s budget came in at $48.3 billion. On Monday, legislative leaders announced that they have agreed to a $52 billion budget. That’s nearly a $4 billion increase in spending.

Representative Mortensen is more than willing to stand up against bad budget deals and fake conservatives, but he cannot do it alone. Before they finalize the details of this misappropriation of your tax dollars, call Paul Gazelka and tell him to back out of this bad deal.

NSLA End Of Session Report 2021

On Monday, the regular Legislative Session concluded Sine Die, meaning that they are done for the year. That stops them from being able to assault our liberties... for now.

"No man's life, liberty or property are safe while the Legislature is in session."

- Gideon Tucker

Ain't that the truth!

Just before things ended, Republican Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka announced that he had made a deal with Governor Walz and Speaker Hortman on how many tax dollars they'll use for the next two years.

This deal is nothing but bad.

Not only does this proposal fully fund the agencies that attacked hard working Minnesotans last year, but it increases spending by BILLIONS -- Growing our already bloated state government.

Worse yet; there was no mention of terminating Tyrant Tim Walz’ Emergency Powers, nor passing the much needed “Never Again” bill to stop this kind of tyranny in the future.

To put it plainly, Paul Gazelka let you down.

But this fight is not over yet!

Governor Walz will call a Special Session to finalize the details. The door remains cracked open for some problems and more victories in the weeks to come.

Thanks to your help so far, I have fought long and hard for your liberties during this legislative session. Here are the goals that my team set out to complete at the beginning of the legislative session:

2021 Legislative Goals and Achievements

  • GOAL: Strip away the governor’s Emergency Powers and END the Emergency Powers Statute

STATUS: IN PROGRESS - The North Star Liberty Alliance has fought against Walz' efforts to restrict our freedoms. This has come in the form of advertisements, petition gathering and delivery to legislators, calls, emails, letters to local newspapers and more. Though emergency powers are still in place now, we are seeing signs things may come to an end.

  • GOAL: Stop forced vaccinations

STATUS: COMPLETE - While there have been legitimate attempts to push this, thanks to the efforts of grassroots patriots like you, mandated vaccines legislation has been killed. This comes after the thousands of interactions on Vaccine Passport advertisements put out by the North Star Liberty Alliance.

  • GOAL: Stop tax hikes

STATUS: IN PROGRESS - Despite Walz’ early attempts to jack up taxes this year, he's been held back to this point. However, that could change... Sen. Majority Leader Gazelka also said "no new taxes" in 2019 right before he sold out and made the Sick Tax permanent. We'll see if he holds the line or fails again.

  • GOAL: Expose RINO (“Republicans in Name Only”) politicians

STATUS: COMPLETE - My team and I have been working around the clock to hold RINOs accountable. Just one example includes our video ads targeting legislators who refuse to sign on to Articles of Impeachment against Governor Walz. Check them out below:

THE FINAL PUSH: Thanks to patriots like you, we delayed the building of a bad budget deal. Your phone calls, emails, and letters worked to gunk up the process!

With Governor Walz calling the legislature back into session to extend his emergency powers and finalize the bad budget deal, we need to stay vigilant.

Your North Star Liberty Alliance will be ready to fight for stopping this budget, stripping Walz of his emergency powers, and Impeaching him for his crimes against Minnesotans.

Will you help me make our final pushes as the legislature takes on the Special Sessions in the coming weeks?

Contribute to the North Star Liberty Alliance now, and help me get our Pro-Liberty message out to the people and to the spineless legislators in St. Paul.

Give $100, $50, $25, or whatever you can afford right now to keep my team on the front lines in this fight.

If my team’s record has anything to say, it's that our pressure campaigns have worked. I’m confident that we can put up a good fight at the Capitol and put crooked legislators back in their place.

Bill Paulsen

New House Republican Caucus Betrays Liberty Champion Mortensen

For the past week or so, rumors have been flying around the Capitol corridors about tensions between the New House Republican Caucus and Rep. Erik Mortensen. Those rumors turned out to be true.

The New House Republican Caucus parted ways with Liberty Champion Mortensen today to try to run cover for their Swampy friends and bow down to Establishment Republicans. This is all because Mortensen has done more in his freshman year as a legislator than some of his colleagues have done in decades.

Mortensen has led the charge on many issues, including the Articles of Impeachment against Tyrant Tim Walz. While some of these New House Republicans have begrudgingly signed onto these measures, others have refused to listen to their constituents and sign on.

Rep. Mortensen has been an absolute warrior for the grassroots patriots of Minnesota, fighting tooth and nail at every turn of the corner. He’s also been instrumental in calling out all the political games that politicians play in St. Paul. Unfortunately, following through with his campaign promises has not made him a lot of friends.

While the New House Republican Caucus had paraded around as the conservative caucus, they are turning out to be more of the Liz Cheney types who abandon legislators and activists that are fighting the hardest. Which is everything that is wrong with these RINOs (Republicans In Name Only).

These legislators will say some good things, but pull a complete 180 when they are needed most. That is the problem with so called “conservatives” in St. Paul...

WEAKNESS.

When Mortensen outperformed these fake conservatives, the grassroots patriots of Minnesota took notice. These RINOs are so weak that they will sell out the Liberty Champions to curry favor with other members with the delusion that it will help advance liberty.

Let the remaining members of the New House Republican Caucus know how you feel about their actions by calling and emailing them:

Last Day Of Session: What Will Happen?

May 17th, 2021 is the last day that the state legislature can meet during a regular session. For the past several weeks, lawmakers have been struggling to put together a budget that will fund the state for the next two years. Both sides of the aisle are looking to stuff the budget omnibus with their pet projects that will drastically raise spending.

Despite campaigning on the tenant of fiscal conservatism, the Senate Republican budget proposal still increases overall spending. Take a look at a more in depth analysis of that proposal here. Worst of all, there are no real efforts to include serious emergency powers reform in these proposals.

Despite having the ability to bring budget negotiations to a halt, Paul Gazelka and Senate Republicans are not fighting to remove Governor Walz’ ability to declare an executive emergency like they campaigned on in 2020. Instead, they offered removing the mask mandate and the mandates on businesses in their budget proposal. Now that Walz has removed the mask mandate on his own, Senate Republicans really do not have much to offer.

The legislature will likely fail to come to an agreement on the budget and will need to go into a special session. Regardless of what happens with the budget, Walz will need to call a special session on June 14th to give legislators the opportunity to object to the renewal of his emergency powers. Knowing the weak attempts made in the past, Walz will keep his powers for at least 30 more days…

...Unless the people of Minnesota speak up.

Our elected leaders are accountable to us. When the North Star Liberty Alliance Grassroots Army speaks up, legislators listen. Make your voice heard by reaching out to your State Senator and State Representative by clicking here.

Then, sign the petition to impeach Governor Walz. These Impeachment Petition signatures will be sent to your legislators in an effort to get them on board. Sign now to show your support.

Walz Refuses To Face Protestors; Skips Fishing Opener

Governor Walz once again broke with an annual tradition on Saturday. After cancelling the fishing opener last year, Walz’ press team announced that he would be skipping the celebration to focus on budget negotiations in St. Paul. Coincidentally, protestors were prepared to meet Walz to air their grievances.

The fishing opener has served as an annual tradition in the state for over 73 years. It takes place in Otter Tail County, known to some as “rocks and cows” country.

You see, Walz knows that he is unpopular. After shutting down the state economy and locking citizens in their homes, it’s not difficult to understand why. If Walz took his job seriously, he would make an effort to talk with the people who disagree with him. After all, he is supposed to be a governor for all Minnesotans.

Nevertheless, the protests continued without Tyrant Tim Walz. Check out this clip from Alpha News

Legislators were very quick to note that the majority of budget negotiations have been handled over zoom. Reporters also noted that there were no budget negotiations scheduled for Saturday! All the signs point towards Walz chickening out and retreating to his cozy governor’s mansion in St. Paul.

If Walz is afraid to face a few patriots in Greater Minnesota, he surely must be worried about the growing efforts to impeach him. That’s right, the North Star Liberty Alliance is leading the charge against Walz. Have you put your name down on the official NSLA Impeachment Petition?
